Production Blog: Editing, editing, and more editing!

 Hey, welcome back!

Today I began working on the actual editing of the intro. Today, I was able to accomplish placing all the scenes together. However, I ran out of time, so unfortunately, I have to find the music at a later date.

First, I had to work on what takes from the cupcake scene to use. We didn't highlight which specific steps in the process I would use in the storyboard, so I had to pick and choose what scenes I believed would work best. I filmed every step of making cupcakes in an effort to have options when editing, and while it took a while to pick out which takes would work best, I believe I found the best ones.

An issue I had with both the commercial and the music video was the fact that when I would pull the videos from my photos app, they would import slightly blurry. When I was filming I realized that this was no fault of my own but instead an automatic setting on my phone, it wasn't filming to the highest quality (4K at 60 FPS) but instead at the lowest (720 HD at 30 FPS). This resulted in the clips looking so much better when imported, this will make the final project of a much higher quality.

Another large issue I ran into was the fact that every take was crooked. I hadn't realized this until after I had imported all the clips into iMovie, my editing software, so I had to restart completely. I believe my tripod ended up crooked and I hadn't checked each clip until I was editing, so I didn't realize this was an issue I had to fix. IMovie doesn't allow me to straighten clips, it only allows me to change the orientation and crop the video itself. Unfortunately, I had to delete all the clips from iMovie and edit them in the photos app and reupload them to iMovie.  Fortunately, it ended up looking much better, so the extra time used was well worth it.

Although I wasn't able to find the music during this editing period,  I was able to brainstorm further based on the draft created. I want to find slightly upbeat music, which takes a darker tone the further you get into it, I believe classical music will fit this idea best. Classical music will also create suspense as it is a traditional sign of thrillers. However, this idea isn't set in stone and may change with further research.

Until next time!
