Hey, its me!

Hi, I'm Sara Smous! I am taking AICE Media Studies AS, and this is a little about me! This year I am taking World of Music, Chemistry Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, AICE European History, AICE English Language, AICE Sociology, and of course AICE Media Studies AS level. I chose to take this course because I enjoy watching films so I think it would be beneficial to me to understand more than what's on a surface level. So far, I  have enjoyed completing these projects and they help me grow as an  editor and director, I hope my enjoyment of this will stay alive and flourish,

After school, I play tennis about once a week depending on the weather and if I have time and I have been doing so since the 5th grade. I'm also an Ecoexplorer intern at the Museum of Discovery and Science. I love doing this as I get to interact with people I normally wouldn't have and I really enjoy the work I do. In the internship, we help teach children about sustainability and educate them on things they should know to create a better future. One of my favorite parts about it is about every other month we do a field excursion to places like the Everglades. Just the other day we went on a two-day (not overnight) excursion to the Everglades where we went kayaking, air boating, flat bottom boating, and we were supposed to go slogging but due to circumstances out of our control, we were unable to.

Another thing I do almost every weekend is volunteer at the Humane Society of Broward County in the Education Department, I have done about 181 hours there since March of 2022. Working there I mainly assist with children's birthday parties and camp during school breaks. The children's camp ends up leaving me with many stories to tell my friends though. One of the most interesting things happened during my first week of camp over the summer, I was a counselor for a group of 6-8 year olds and there was this one kid, let's call him Logan. We had gotten a woman from an animal sanctuary to come and give a presentation on the animals there and what she does over Zoom, however, we began having some technical difficulties with connection and we ended up having the kids wait for about 15 minutes. Logan was not having it and he decided to make paper airplanes, due to previous incidents he wasn't allowed to do that, and when asked to stop Logan decided he didn't want to and ran around the room screaming and throwing the airplanes everywhere. Then as were trying to get someone to talk him down he runs over to his table mates and grabs their lanyards, which didn't have a breakaway clip, and started choking the other kids. Everyone ended up fine and Logan went home and was fine but that was definitely something memorable.

Something that can't be found on records is my absolute hatred of rollercoasters. I cannot fathom why people enjoy them, why do they enjoy the fear of literally plummeting to the ground? About two years ago at this point, I was visiting Universal Studios with my family and we decided to go on the Harry Potter ride there. Nobody told me about the drop that comes out of nowhere in the beginning, because of that, the entire ride I'm sitting there silently sobbing and next to me I can hear my parents comforting my sister. Apparently, they didn't know I was crying until two weeks ago when I was joking about it.
