Production Blog: Almost Done!

 Hey, welcome back!

Today I finished up the music video! I added background music, and transitions between the scenes, and added the credits and title card. This concludes the initial editing portion of the music video.

When looking for the background music I had to take our last conversation about music into account, however, ultimately, I had to decide what would sound best in the music video. My goal was to find music that is mostly light with some dark turns closer to the end to symbolize when things take a turn in the music video. Emma had mainly wanted a murder ballad, so that's where I began my search. It was difficult for me to find royalty-free murder ballads, however, the ones I did find took on a different tone than what fit the music video. That's when I decided to switch my focus, although I would still keep a lookout for murder ballads, I decided to look at some classical music. I believed classical music would keep the tone I was looking for as it may be harder to change the tone so drastically in a murder ballad. With further research, I realized that many murder ballads describe the act of murder, from beginning to end. I realized that having the song describes what is happening is counterintuitive, we wanted to add the cupcake scene to confuse the audience and add suspense, and adding a murder ballad would simply end that confusion. I then looked at the list of songs I discussed in the last production blog discussing music, and temporarily tested them in the opening sequence. Although they all sounded nice, Awaken by OxyStudio sounded amazing when played with the opening sequence. So, after a little trimming, that's the song we chose.

The title sequence and title card are fairly simple. I stuck to the initial plans we had with the fonts and all. I decided to place the credits along the top right and left of the screen, holding them at 2-3 second intervals, long enough so that you can read it but not too long.

All in all I've had a great time both filming and editing this project and I can't wait to get feedback on it!

Until next time!
