The Filming: The Hot Chocolate Scene

Hey, I hope you've all had a good day!

I am very behind schedule, but in my defense, I've had a lot going on with school and other things. My Grandma flew in from the Czech Republic and while I love her, I needed to get her out of the house to the film which proved to be more difficult than I expected. But I was able to film nonetheless, just a week late. For the hot chocolate scene, I needed to grab my Christmas mugs and decorations. This part took about an hour as I had to search through all of our Christmas decorations (we have a painful amount). When I finally got everything set up I came to find out that we had no milk so I couldn't make the hot chocolate! I got very lucky though because my Mom decided to try "Instacart" for the first time, which is basically a grocery delivery service, so everything worked out. However, it took about an hour so in the meantime I decided to figure out how I would complete the next scenes. I talked to my mom, my dad, and my sister, and together we had come to the conclusion that unfortunately, we couldn't film their scenes today. They were all busy and working so we decided to postpone until the next day, December 11th.

After a long while, the milk finally came which means I could start filming. I began by filming the scene where I poured the milk into the cups. However, I quickly realized that the way I was pouring looked really bad on camera. To combat this I decided to pour it from above the camera view, which proved to be more difficult than expected. At the end of the first few takes, milk was everywhere. I had to clean up more milk than I ever had in my life. But I will say that the final take turned out really well and I think it will fit the music video much better. I also faced the issue of moving the camera. In the other shots I am moving the camera a lot, mainly tilts and zooming. My tripod can't do that, so I had to move it myself. In the beginning, the takes came out super shakey and while the ending shots came out much better, they were still a bit shakey. While it doesn't look professional, I think it turned out the best I could make it!

As quickly as I started filming the hot chocolate scene, I finished! I will be filming the rest of the scenes tomorrow, but for now, have a wonderful day!
