The Editing: The Final Part!
Hey, I hope everything is going well!
Everything is now coming to a wrap on the music video, and while I'm sad it's almost over this means that a new project is coming!
Today I worked on making everything look pretty. I began by adding transitions between each clip. When I first played everything through, I realized that the video itself looked really choppy without these transitions. The video also didn't give off the tone I was looking for and I believe transitions can fix that. I mainly used three transition types, cross blur, cross dissolve, and fade to white. The biggest issue I had faced in placing these was figuring out where each one should go. The fade to white looked better in traditions between scenes, for example the hot chocolate making scene going into the Christmas morning scene. The fade to white had a more final effect than the others. I used the cross blur and cross dissolve in between shots that were similar, for example in between the shot of me pouring milk into the mugs and putting hot chocolate powder in the mugs.
Finally, the thing I should've done in the very beginning, solving the blurryness which occurred when I sent the videos from my phone to my computer. At first, I just tried to send the videos through Airdrop from my phone to my computer. However, this only worked for a couple of a videos while the rest turned out blurry. I then tried through Gmail, however, I didn't have enough space on Gmail itself to send all the videos, so I had to work out another option. During my search on Gmail, something popped up, showing me ways on how to increase storage on Gmail. Thats when I saw it, Google Photos. Google Photos had automatically synced all the videos I had taken on my phone so I could easily access it on my computer. However, the biggest question was, would they be blurry? This was my last hope as I really had no other ideas to make it work, the blurryness wasn't too awful so it could be something that I could leave alone but I don't like knowing I could've fixed it. Thank the stars because it worked, after importing them into iMovie the videos were as clear as they were on my phone!
I can't believe its already done! Its crazy how quickly things can happen, I remember freaking out over not knowing what to do for this music video and now its finished! Although I had some issues, I do think this turned out as good as I could make it, I hope you love it as much as I do!
