Filming Blog: Another day, more filming
Hey, I'm back again with another filming blog!
Today I filmed the little scenes throughout the music video, e.g. the coffee scene, the alarm scene, and the establishing shot of the Christmas tree. I began by filming the alarm clock scene, and unfortunately, I didn't have the time to get one of the physical alarm clocks, so I had to settle for using a phone alarm. While my Mom was finishing up things she needed to do, I changed the time on her alarm so it would show 5:30 am when the alarm went off. When we started to film the scene, I set the clock to the minute before 5:30, the problem was it was exactly a minute before 5:30. We ended up having to sit with the video recording for about a minute just waiting for the alarm to go off, silently as to not have any other background noise. Because we were silent for what felt like a long time we couldn't stop laughing there are at least five or six takes of us just bursting out laughing, but I think despite our laughing the final shot turned out really well.
Next, I filmed the coffee scene. This scene was fairly easy to film as all I had to do was press a button. The biggest challenge I faced making this scene was positioning the camera, I couldn't get the angle exactly as I wanted so I had to figure out the next best thing. The cabinet wouldn't allow me to fully extend the tripod, if I had zoomed in the camera to get the angle I was looking for, the video became blurry. While the angle was lower than I expected, I think it turned out better than it could've been with the angle planned. My parents had set up the coffee maker for the morning so I had to fake turning on the coffee maker, which may be noticeable if you really pay attention, but I think the scene turned out good nonetheless.
The final scene I filmed was the easiest of them all, the christmas tree! The only problem here was that area wasn't clean enough for my Mom's standards, so I had to clean anything that could've possibly been in the shot. While, it wasn't super clean I think it got the job done! The rest of the shot went really smoothly, all I had to do was set up the tripod and make sure anything unnecessary wasn't in it. Overall, this scene went really well and i'm very happy with the way it came out
Now, I only have to film the present opening scene! I will see you after I finish filming, but for now have a great day!
