My "Group"
Hey, I hope you are doing well!
For the music video, I decided to work alone. This is at no fault of my group from the last project as they were amazing and I really couldn't have asked for a better group. I feel the need to be in control of what I do and working in a group couldn't provide me with that luxury. It stressed me out too much not knowing what things would look like until the end and I would end up just doing it. If things wouldn't work out the way I intended for them I would end up holding resentment toward my teammates, which isn't fair for them. But all in all, they really were an amazing group.
I have a very full schedule as I have many extracurriculars so finding a day that would work well for everyone in the group was difficult, we ended up having to rush things so the final commercial didn't end up as well as it could've. Doing this alone will give me the freedom to film when I can and I don't need set dates. I will be able to balance my schedule to make me feel less stressed out doing things.
A big issue with doing a project with a group was that I had to get their approval during many stages of the editing process. I needed to make sure they liked the music, the outro, etc. This halted the editing process they have their own lives and can't stop everything to listen immediately. What should've taken an hour ended up being done sporadically throughout the day. Even then, they normally liked what I did but I still had to check in and make sure they did.
I'm generally not a very social person, don't be mistaken I enjoy my fair share of social activities but compared to others I'm not as social. After having to talk to people all day at school and in my other activities the last thing I wanted to do was keep talking, and yet working with others forced me to do so. By working alone, I will get more time to be alone and I won't have to constantly be talking to people through all the stages of the process.
I have to say that even though I'm presenting to you all these issues with my last group, I wouldn't have done it any other way. They are all amazing people and I'm glad to have shared this experience with them but, I need to do things my own way now.
